Vanguard's First Apple Vision Pro Application
Overview
In an exciting venture into the realm of spatial computing, I had the privilege of leading a small UX team in the conception and implementation of Vanguard's inaugural Apple Vision Pro application. This application was designed to underscore the collaboration between Vanguard and one of its esteemed technology partners, Infosys. Our mission was not only to innovate within a new form factor but also to articulate the tangible benefits of our partnership with Infosys, highlighting how it has positively impacted our clients over the years.
Problem Statement
Despite a successful partnership that has lasted four years, Vanguard faced challenges in effectively communicating the value of its collaboration with Infosys. Clients and stakeholders struggled to see the direct benefits, which hindered the partnership’s potential. Our challenge was to create an engaging and informative experience that brought this partnership to life, making the story accessible and relatable to users.
Research & Discovery
To better understand the needs and expectations of our users, we conducted thorough user research, including surveys, interviews, and focus groups with both internal stakeholders and external clients. We sought to gather insights into their understanding of Vanguard and Infosys's partnership, the challenges they faced, and the types of information they found valuable.
Key findings from our research included:
A strong interest in visual storytelling that demonstrates how it feels to be on the Infosys campus.
Users preferred interactive experiences over traditional media for absorbing information.
Clients valued real-world examples and case studies that illustrated the direct impact of our initiatives.
Concept Development
Armed with these insights, our team brainstormed various concepts that could effectively showcase the partnership's narrative. We aimed to create an immersive, interactive experience, allowing users to navigate through the success stories, case studies, and innovative solutions fostered by the partnership.
Initial Concept
We envisioned an interactive journey that users could embark upon, where they could choose different paths based on their interests. This path would lead them to various success stories, incorporating multimedia elements such as videos, infographics, and interactive data visualizations. The concept emphasized engagement, allowing users to explore at their own pace.
Collaboration with Deloitte
Recognizing the complexity of building an engaging experience for the Apple Vision Pro, we partnered with a highly skilled team at Deloitte. Our collaboration focused on strategic and design directions to ensure that the experience met Vanguard’s brand standards while taking full advantage of the capabilities offered by spatial computing.
Design Considerations
Visual Aesthetics**: We chose a clean, modern design that aligned with Vanguard’s branding while being optimized for spatial environments.
User Interaction
Intuitive navigation and gestures were integral, enabling users to interact seamlessly with the content.
Responsiveness
The experience was designed to adjust to varying user preferences and environments, catering to both individual and collaborative interactions.

Development and Implementation
The development process involved frequent iterations based on continuous feedback from both our internal team and users. Prototyping sessions were critical, allowing us to test interactions and refine the user flow.
We utilized cutting-edge technology to ensure smooth performance and visual fidelity, resulting in a rich, immersive experience that effectively communicated the partnership’s value.
Launch and Outcomes
The launch of the application was met with enthusiasm, particularly when Apple announced Vanguard as one of its innovation partners on the Vision Pro release day. This acknowledgment significantly boosted our visibility and validated the importance of our project in the broader tech landscape.
Early Wins
Post-launch feedback from clients and stakeholders was overwhelmingly positive. Users appreciated the innovative delivery of information, which made it easier for them to grasp the benefits of the Vanguard-Infosys partnership. The immersive experience not only enhanced user engagement but also sparked interest within the enterprise to explore further developments.
Next Steps
Encouraged by the initial success, the Vanguard team plans to expand the experience and integrate additional features based on user feedback. Future iterations will focus on enriching the content and exploring deeper connections between Vanguard’s services and client needs.
Conclusion
Leading the development of Vanguard's first Apple Vision Pro application was a transformative experience for the team and a significant milestone for the organization. It not only showcased our innovative spirit but also bridged the communication gap regarding our partnership with Infosys. This project set the groundwork for future endeavors in spatial computing, positioning Vanguard at the forefront of innovation in the financial services industry.
